Social Media Article #19 – Facebook Insights

Facebook has a wonderful Analytics tool called Insights. This helps measure, track, and record the data of your page, based on interaction, followers, content and so much more.
Insights can be found on your ministry’s Facebook Page in the menu as the fourth tab.

After clicking on the Insights tab, a new menu appears below the first menu with the following tabs: Overview, Likes, Reach, Visits, Posts, and People. We’re going to break down each of these tabs.

Overview

The Overview tab shares data from the last week, including the recent statistics on page likes, post reach, engagement, recent posts, and pages to watch.

Likes

On the likes page, begin by selecting a date rage at the top of the page. The following are charts on the likes page:

Total Likes Chart – This section allows you to see your “like” gain over time.

Net Likes Chart – This allows you to see where your likes are coming from on a daily basis.
Unlikes – These will show up when someone unlikes your page.

Organic Likes – Organic likes are likes that are received through organic reach.
Paid Likes – When you’re running an ad on facebook, sometimes you’ll receive new likes that you pay for.
Net Likes – This is the combined number of organic and paid likes.

Where Your Page Likes Happened
Your page likes will come from a multitude of different areas on Facebook. These include:

  • On Your Page
  • Uncategorized Mobile
  • Ads
  • Uncategorized Desktop
  • Others

Reach

On the reach page, begin by selecting a date rage at the top of the page. The following are charts on the reach page:

Post Reach – This breaks up your post reach based on organic and paid.

Likes, Comments, and Shares – This shares the number of likes, comments, and shares during the time period selected.

Hide, Report as Spam, and Unlikes – This shares the number of hidden posts, spam reports, and page unlikes.

Total Reach – Similar to the Post Reach Chart, the total reach is a combination of posts, posts to your page, ads, mentions, and checkins.

Visits

On the visits page, begin by selecting a date rage at the top of the page. The following are charts on the visits page:

Page and Tab Visits – This gives the number of times your page and tabs were visited.

External Referrers – This shows where your viewers came from outside of Facebook, usually websites that you’re affiliated with.

Posts

The posts tabs has four important charts.

When Your Fans Are Online – Provides you with the best time of day to post.

Post Types – The success of different post types based on average reach and engagement.

Top Posts from Pages to Watch – This allows you to add pages similar to yours and Facebook will choose posts that are recommended and popular.

All Post Published – This gives you the most data about each post you share. We’ll be covering this section in more detail in a later article.

This data shares the demographics of the people interacting with or being reached by your Facebook Page, including your fans, people reached, people engaged, and check-ins.
